CitySprint NewsCitySprint to deliver internal mail for the Environment AgencyNovember 2008
CitySprint has been awarded a national contract with the Environment Agency to deliver internal mail between its regional offices across the UK. This is the second contract CitySprint has been awarded with the Environment Agency as the award winning courier network has been responsible for delivering environmental samples for the National Laboratory Service (NLS), which is part of the Environment Agency, since October 2006. The Environment Agency is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales and has 130 regional offices across the UK. CitySprint has its own regional network of 30+ ServiceCentres across the UK which will enable it to provide an effective, efficient and reliable delivery service for internal mail between each of the Environment Agency’s offices on a daily basis. The Environment Agency’s suppliers are vital in providing the goods and services it needs to deliver its environmental vision for England and Wales. CitySprint recognises that the provision of its courier services have an impact on the environment and has worked hard to implement a comprehensive environmental programme which has been implemented internally and externally in order to minimise that impact. As part of its environmental programme CitySprint continuously looks for new vehicle options and innovative solutions which are both environmentally friendly and commercially viable. CitySprint does not charge clients a premium for using green vehicle options and in many cases they are provided at a reduced cost. CitySprint’s environmentally friendly fleet includes pushbikes, CityTrikes (human powered vehicles), electric vehicles, Smart Cars and alternative fuel vehicles. CitySprint has also taken its environmental programme one step further by developing an external programme which offers clients the opportunity to assess, reduce and even offset their own carbon footprint. CitySprint’s environmental programme is continually reviewed and updated with solutions that benefit clients and help CitySprint reduce its overall carbon footprint. CitySprint is accredited with the internationally recognised ISO14001:2004 and recently won the ‘Environmental Improvement’ award at the 2008 European Supply Chain Excellence Awards. CitySprint also won a number of industry environmental awards in 2007 including the UK Mail CSR award, IFW Environment award and TfL Private Sector ‘Capital Fleet of the Year’ award. |
