We are committed to the safety of our couriers, clients and the general public and have implemented a comprehensive road safety programme which is continually reviewed and updated.
We have integrated our road safety programme with the management of our general health and safety practices. The implementation of these additional road safety activities on top of compulsory key duties such as undertaking risk assessments and having in place health and safety management systems clearly demonstrates our commitment to road safety.
We are a member of the road safety charity BRAKE and have regular meetings with the organisation to discuss the latest developments and initiatives in road safety. Our road safety programme ensures our fleet is managed in the safest way possible and that the most effective road safety initiatives are researched, implemented, reviewed and updated in order to ensure the safety of our couriers, clients and the general public at all times.
Key features of our road safety programme include:- BRAKE ‘Pledge to drive safely’ – we advocate the safe and sensible use of the road and adhere to the 12-point ‘Pledge to drive safely’ set out by BRAKE to encourage people to drive more safely thereby saving lives on the road.
- Regular vehicle checks by our Quality Assurance Team to ensure quality and safety is maintained. Couriers are also asked to perform daily vehicle safety checks.
- Vehicle usage and operating times for couriers are in line with health and safety requirements and monitored daily.
- We seek to attract and retain the highest quality couriers. Selection criteria includes identity confirmation, full employment history and regular driving licence checks.
- Training - All of our self-employed couriers are fully trained and issued with a Courier Information booklet which highlights Health & Safety and Road legislation.
- Innovative iFleet technology enables us to maintain accurate records vital to delivering a safe and high quality service for clients. An automatic reminder system informs all couriers about impending insurance or MOT expiry as well as tracking their training records.
