CitySprint shortlisted for 'Supply Chain Partnership' award at 2010 IFW Awards

CitySprint has been shortlisted for the 'Supply Chain Partnership' award at the prestigious 2010 International Freighting Weekly (IFW) Awards.

The IFW Awards, which are now in their 14th year, is one of the distribution industry's longest established events which recognise and reward excellence in the Logistics sector. All of the entries were reviewed last week by an esteemed judging panel that had the difficult task of choosing the shortlist and overall winners from the record number of entries that were received.

CitySprint entered the 'Supply Chain Partnership' category based on its dynamic Retail Delivery Solution which is changing the face of online retail by offering customers more control and flexibility over their deliveries.

The Retail Solution was initially launched in 2009 in partnership with online retailer ASOS.com. By utilising CitySprint's unique infrastructure ASOS.com is able to offer a SameDay service, 7-days a week including Bank Holidays, for deliveries within, and on the outskirts of, the M25.

Hilton Eachus, Customer Delivery Manager, at ASOS.COM, explains their decision behind offering the same day service "Even though our customers are happy with our delivery options, we are determined to constantly evolve, remaining ahead of the market and setting a precedent. We want to offer our customers as much choice as possible while maintaining the simplicity of our checkout process."

Stuart Hill, Head of Customer Logistics, at ASOS.COM goes on to explain "Our warehouse in Hemel Hempstead gives us perfect access to London and the M25 region and we wanted to utilise its location to offer a same day delivery service to our customers in the London area. CitySprint was chosen as our partner for this exciting new delivery option as they offered us a competitive price point and convenient cut off times, enabling ASOS.COM to offer our customers the choice of delivery of their goods on the same day as purchase".

CitySprint's unique network of 31 wholly owned ServiceCentres and a fleet 1600 couriers who are uniformed, security checked and drive branded vehicles, adhering to strict standards, is one of the key reasons it is able to offer such a viable service offering. CitySprint's UK delivery footprint is vital in providing a scale of coverage for the retailer's clients, offering effective supply chain solutions, with the ability to minimise delivery time windows, by being in close proximity of distribution centres or outlets.

Other key factors include CitySprint's investment in technology that offers full transparency of the supply chain and enables the retailer to effectively utilise CitySprint as extension of their service offering. Following the successful launch of the retail delivery solution CitySprint is now working with a number of other retailers who are keen to offer their customers this leading-edge delivery choice.

Patrick Gallagher, Chief Executive for CitySprint commented, "We are delighted to be recognised as part of the delivery solution within this developing sector. With a demand for more rapid and convenient delivery options, CitySprint has a major part to play throughout the UK within the Retail sector".

The 2010 IFW award winners will be announced at a presentation dinner, attended by more than 500 distribution companies and their customers, at the five star Hilton on Park Lane, London on Thursday 28 October 2010.
