CitySprint's dynamic Retail Delivery Solution receives industry recognition and gets second place for 'Supply Chain Partnership' award ...
CitySprint, the UK's largest privately owned SameDay Distribution company, last night (28th October 2010) came second place in the 'Supply Chain Partnership' category at the prestigious 2010 International Freighting Weekly (IFW) Awards and was highly commended by judges.
The IFW Awards, which are now in their 14th year, are one of the distribution industry's longest established events which recognise and reward excellence in the Logistics sector.
CitySprint entered the 'Supply Chain Partnership' award with its dynamic Retail Delivery Solution which is changing the face of online retail by offering customers more control and flexibility over their deliveries. The Retail Solution was initially launched in 2009 in partnership with online retailer ASOS.com. By utilising CitySprint's unique infrastructure, ASOS.com is able to offer a SameDay service, 7-days a week including Bank Holidays, for deliveries within and on the outskirts of the M25.
In total seven companies were shortlisted for the award. CitySprint came a close second place and therefore received high commendation from the judges.
IFW commented "The Supply Chain Partnership Award was one of the hottest contested categories of the 2010 IFW Awards. CitySprint impressed the judges with its Retail Delivery Solution. An excellent innovation from a company at the top of its game"
CitySprint's unique network, comprising of 31 wholly owned ServiceCentres and fleet of over 1600 couriers (who are uniformed, security checked and drive branded vehicles), is one of the key reasons it is able to offer such a viable service offering. CitySprint's UK delivery footprint is vital in providing a scale of coverage for the retailer's clients, offering effective supply chain solutions with the ability to minimise delivery time windows by being in close proximity to distribution centres or outlets. Other key factors include CitySprint's investment in technology that offers full transparency of the supply chain and enables the retailer to effectively utilise CitySprint as extension of their service offering.
Following the successful launch of the retail delivery solution, CitySprint is now working with a number of other
retailers who are keen to offer their customers this leading-edge delivery choice.
Patrick Gallagher, Chief Executive for CitySprint commented, "Despite not winning the 'Supply Chain Partnership' award, we are pleased that we achieved second place and were highly commended by the judges and that CitySprint has been recognised as a key part of the delivery solution within this developing sector. With a demand for more rapid and convenient delivery options, CitySprint has a major part to play throughout the UK within the Retail sector"
