CitySprint Chief Executive speaks about the demand for same day retail deliveries at 2010 Mail & Express Delivery Show

Yesterday (Wednesday 21st April) Andrew Bernard, the Chief Executive of the UK's largest privately owned SameDay distribution network CitySprint, took to the stage at the 2010 Mail & Express Delivery Show in London to speak to industry leaders about 'the demand for same day retail deliveries'.

The Mail & Express Delivery Show is a unique forum that brings together operators, shippers, industry suppliers and high volume generators of post and parcels, and tackles the key issues in the market. The 2010 show was structured into eight themed sessions and Andrew's presentation took place in the session titled 'A New dawn for Distribution Logistics: Customer demands have lead to a range of new delivery services. Are they all appropriate for today's market?'

Andrew was invited to speak about 'the demand for same day retail deliveries' in this session as CitySprint has developed pioneeing delivery solutions for the retail industry. These delivery options give customers more control and flexibility over their delivery.

Andrew explained "The same day courier market has undergone a period of significant change with documentation revenues decreasing by 50% over the past five years. As the UK's leading SameDay Courier network we anticipated this trend and have addressed the change by re-focussing and diversifying…offering SameDay evening deliveries to retailers is one example of that.  Due to our unique infrastructure, investment in technology and a dedicated Retail Support Team, we are able to offer SameDay evening or defined delivery slots to retailers 365 days a year 7 days a week".

This superior level of service offered by CitySprint is enabling retailers to further differentiate themselves in a market which is highly competitive and in a desperate race to gain online market share. CitySprint launched the service in September 2009 with online retailer ASOS.com and has since been inundated with requests from other retailers as they seek to replicate the service.

CitySprint also had a presence at the showcase exhibition running alongside the show which gave the opportunity to greet existing customers, meet and build relationships with prospects, and demonstrate its service offerings to the UK's volume customers in the post, parcels and packets sector.

Justin Moore, CitySprint's National Sales Manager, commented, "The 2010 Mail & Express Delivery Show was a huge success. Andrew's presentation was well received by delegates and we received lots of interest on the exhibition stand about our retail offering and the other services that we offer via our network of 31 ServiceCentres across the UK".
