You will need a few things to get started as a national courier. Don’t panic if you don’t have something on this list, get in touch with our friendly fleet team here and they will be happy to help.
 
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • A van that is in a tidy condition OR a motorbike or pushbike (if you don’t own one that’s OK, we might be able to help)
  • Courier insurance (hire and reward)
Registration only takes a few minutes! Once you have registered with CitySprint via our online form, your local service centre will be in touch to arrange a quick face to face meeting before you hit the road.

If you are interested in joining us as a pushbike or motorbike courier, send us an email as the checklist for your face to face meeting is a little different.

Your checklist

When you visit your local service centre as a national van courier, as well as yourself you’ll need to bring along the following:
 
  • Current UK driving licence (held for minimum of 2 years)
  • Passport or birth certificate
  • Visa if required
  • 2 x proofs of address dated less than 2 months old
  • National Insurance (card or a printed document)
  • Your bank details
  • MOT certificate
  • V5 document (your vehicle should be less than 8 years old and in good condition)
  • Courier insurance (hire & reward)
  • Hire agreement (only if you're not an owner but currently hire a vehicle)

Common questions about becoming a national courier.

  • National courier FAQs
  • Are there any age restrictions? There are no age restrictions when working with us as a national courier.
  • Can I hire a van if I am interested in working with you? CitySprint don’t hire vehicles but we can put you in touch with companies we know who do. Looking for local hire companies near you is often the best solution.
  • Can I work for any of your 41 locations across the UK? Yes this is how our great network can help you increase your earning opportunities.
  • Can I work only when I want to? Yes, as a self-employed courier you work to a schedule that suits you.
  • Do you have graphics available for vehicles? Vehicle graphics can be provided free of charge if you would like to add this to your van.
  • How are payments made? Payments are made weekly by BACS each Friday.
  • Is evening or weekend work available? Yes, we operate 24/7, 365 days a year. Most work though is available Monday-Friday 7am to 7pm.
  • What age does my vehicle have to be? We ask that vans are no more than 5 years old – though we will consider vehicles outside of this if they are in great condition.
  • What is courier insurance? Courier insurance is the carriage of good for hire and reward. This is required for you to run your business as a courier.
