The University of Leeds in collaboration with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, are conducting a clinical research study, “Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial: Biomarkers Sub-Study”. The study investigates the potential of blood borne biomarkers to improve the efficacy of lung cancer screening and it runs alongside the Yorkshire Lung Screening Trial. 

The study is funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research and is set up by several collaborators with further funding from commercial and academic institutions.
 

Flexible same day delivery

The patient sample collection is mainly conducted on mobile screening units, which are based in community-based car parks around the city of Leeds.  The location changes monthly, with CitySprint providing same day collection/deliveries.

Patient samples are collected from the mobile unit and delivered to a local hospital where they are processed and stored. Vehicles require temperature-controlled containers for sample transportation with a temperature ranging from 2°C to 8 °C.
