CitySprint brings home 6 wins at the 27th annual National Courier Awards

We are beyond proud and honoured to have 6 colleagues and self-employed couriers win at this year’s National Courier Awards, hosted by the Institute of Couriers.

Now in its 27th year, the National Courier Awards set out to recognize and honour exceptional individuals in the courier industry who continually go above and beyond in their roles. Every year, we join fellow courier companies from across the UK, both large and small, to collectively celebrate the achievements of those in our industry.

The lucky award winners receive lifetime IoC membership which sends a clear message to employers, clients, and other stakeholders that they, as recognised members, have committed to industry standards and quality of skills to benefit the service they provide.

Rosie Bailey, Commercial Director and IoC fellow, said,

What a night! In the beautiful new venue of Drapers Hall, the CitySprint colleagues once again showed their capability and commitment to their roles by winning six of the highly prized National Courier Awards, and we are very proud. This year we had our biggest ever list of shortlisted nominees and we also invited their nominators along to witness the event. It was joyous to be amongst representatives from so many companies within the sector and to jointly celebrate the deserved winners from every logistics business. Our thanks go to the IoC team for once again rising to the occasion and creating a truly special evening.

We are now proud to introduce the 6 inspiring CitySprint winners…

Augustus Afowowe, Sheffield Courier

Augustus has proved himself to be invaluable to CitySprint. He loves his work and customers and this has shown through the client and team support letters that were attached to his nomination. He joined our Sheffield Service Centre shortly after it opened and the site has since gone on to achieve a Trustpilot score of 5/5. We give great credit for this to Augustus. He loves his work and his customers and is always professional, polite, and helpful. He has this big beaming smile and most infectious laugh and when you speak to him, he can brighten anyone’s day!

Bevile Ngilana, Operations Controller

Bevile started as a warehouse operative at CitySprint. Overtime, she developed and worked her way through to the operations team as an operations coordinator and now an operations controller. Bevile always supports and helps her colleagues, as well as focusing strongly on new operations coordinators to make sure they have the best training, even when she has her own tasks to do within her control role. To show you how valued by her colleagues she is, at the beginning of the month five team members nominated her for the City Sprint Hero award!

Jessica Rodriquens, Courier Communications Manager

Jessica’s extraordinary work ethic and dedication to go beyond merely assisting her immediate team truly shows her work ethic. She always extends her support to everyone in the office. As well as this, Jessica revamped the training process by moving all of our courses online. She established "The Courier Hub," a valuable resource for couriers, providing 24/7 access to crucial information, resulting in significant time savings and increased efficiency for the couriers. Earlier this year, Jessica was nominated for a CitySprint Hero award by her peers and won, showing her hard work and dedication to the role.

Karl Davis, Oxford Courier

Karl always puts the customer first, regardless of the situation. His excellence is the ultimate aspiration couriers should look to be, and he is a real role model. One example of this was when Karl took it upon himself to go back to the store to collect the correct goods to make sure the customer did not have to wait days to receive them, with no financial incentive for doing so. Away from the contract work he completes; he is always requested by other clients in the area due to being such a reliable and dependable worker. His customer service skills are exceptional, and he acts as a proud ambassador of CitySprint, holding the attitude that he is only as good as his last delivery.

Ruben Sandhu, Operations Apprentice

Ruben won the Apprenticeship Award this year! From the beginning, he has demonstrated a level of commitment to both his role and personal development. Ruben’s passion and thirst for knowledge is refreshing and he always has a smile for everyone he meets. His work ethic is infectious, and he is a great team player, always making himself available to assist and support wherever he can. Our Commercial Director, Rosie Bailey, accepted the award on Ruben’s behalf last night.

Sheyzad Hussain, Heathrow Courier

Sheyzad has been working for CitySprint for over 8 years and we are proud to say that he is one of the hardest working and accommodating couriers we have ever come across. He makes himself available when needed, covers the warehouse supervisor doing all the processing and makes himself available at the weekend to cover Trunk runs if necessary. In a nutshell, he is an exceptional courier and a pleasure to work with. Multiple client accounts have benefited because of his ‘never too much trouble’ attitude.

Once again, we wanted to offer a huge congratulations to all winners and a sincere thank you to the Institute of Couriers for hosting such a wonderful evening.
