What a year 2017 has been for the Group! I like to take a moment at this time of year to reflect on the milestones that made 2017 so memorable and the fantastic contributions our business has made to charity and sponsorships.

With the world changing so much and so fast, I cherish even more the tradition of giving and spending time with loved ones during these festive periods. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers who have supported us this year, the couriers who have been a pivotal cog in the success of our business and our staff who make CitySprint the place it is – everyone plays an important part in continuing to take this business forward.

The below is just a snippet of some great wins for our team this year:

We’ve added some new awards to our growing glassware. On the dot has had a fantastic year, being shortlisted for nine awards and winning two. Whilst we still have some awards to still be announced, we were delighted to take home the win for ‘Best customer experience’ at the MetaPack Delivery Awards and ‘Delivery initiative’ at the Retail Systems Awards.

CitySprint has also been busy with 6 wins at the Institute of Couriers awards and a shortlist in two categories for the UK Complaints Handling Awards (winner to still be announced). A special mention to LastMileLink who had their first award shortlist this year, nominated for the ‘Technology project of the year’ at the V3 awards, alongside our partner Just Eat.

Being a thought leader in the logistics is important to us as a business; we don’t just want to be a part of this industry but instead a leader and contributor in it. With this in mind we launched our second CitySprint Health whitepaper, called ‘Rethinking pharmacy logistics’. This research piece gained us coverage across all the major pharmacy publications and really showed us that there is a desire and need for pharmacies to adapt to growing demand for home deliveries of medication.

We were delighted to get behind Ashley Sutton this year in the British Touring Car Championship. This sponsorship was a great fit to our business- we’re both fast paced, driven and reliable in our chosen areas of expertise. What started off as a bit of local support fast grew into a huge sponsorship to shout about when Ashely took the number one spot and gold for the whole Championship, being crowned as the youngest title winner since 1966.

Charity support and sponsorships are a key part of our culture and I was so impressed to see this support grow even more in 2017. In the lead up to Easter we donated over 3000 Easter eggs to local charities including Homes 4 Heroes, Rockinghorse, Shooting Star Chase, Hospital Derriford and Dingley’s Promise. We also sponsored Sutton United this year, which is also where we proudly played our very first Sales vs Operations football match, raising over £700 for the dreadful Manchester Arena attack.

Staff sponsorships continue to grow, with members of staff completing runs, walks and cycles in an effort to raise money for charity. Thousands of pounds have been raised for charities such as RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution), Cancer Research, Macmillan and Food Cycle.

In June 2017, tragedy struck in the form of The Grenfell Tower Fire but it was heart-warming to see staff members donating clothes, bedding and toiletries to those in need. CitySprint loaded all these items into a dozen transit vans and delivered them to multiple crisis centres in the Grenfell area. In addition to this, we used this opportunity to partner with Just Eat who wanted to donate and deliver food to victims of the fire.

Finally, every year we proudly support Crisis to help those who are most vulnerable take the first steps out of homelessness. We support deliveries for their London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle and Coventry centres all year round and especially during the festive period for their Crisis at Christmas campaigns. Last year we helped over 4,500 guests gain access to a warm, safe environment, food and companionship. This year we hope to help even more.

To round it all off, CitySprint was also ranked with the highest customer satisfaction score in a recent Which? survey, providing us with further validation of the hard work our team put in to supporting our valued customers. 2018 is shaping up to be even better and we as a business will continue to be committed to offering our customers the best service possible. Finally, from everyone at the CitySprint Group we wish you a very merry Christmas and a prosperous 2018.
