As most of us are aware, climate change is high on the agenda for organisations, communities, and individuals across the globe, with many actively taking steps to reverse their impact on the environment.
Every year on April 22nd
, Earth Day
marks the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. The aim of this special day is to mobilise people worldwide and act for our planet’s wellbeing. In the UK alone over 75% of British citizens appear to be concerned about climate change according to the Office For National Statistics
As a courier provider in the logistics industry, we acknowledge that we have an impact on the environment, so we have committed to doing more to reduce our carbon footprint by adopting new ways of operating. As a result, our main target
is to be carbon neutral by 2023 and operate with a fleet of over 200 green vehicles in all-major cities within the UK.
The journey towards a greener future
So far, all our sites are powered by 100% renewable sources avoiding any waste. Using greener and safer options is important to us, and that’s why we offer 5 different options
of green vehicles available for small and large deliveries.
Since 2017, we have completed a whopping 1.7 million green miles linked to over 400,000 deliveries. Last year we also expanded the number of electric vans
in use and introduced e-motorbikes to our green fleet as another sustainable option for businesses to book deliveries with.
Making a difference together
Supporting our clients to achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals is a huge part of our mission. This year we increased our investment in green initiatives by introducing a new carbon offset programme to help our customers account for and offset their delivery emissions.
Through our carbon offset provider, customers will be provided with an emissions report outlining the carbon footprint of their deliveries. Based on this, we will then invest in certified wind, solar, hydro, and bespoke tree planting projects around the world to offset these emissions.
With more and more businesses working in alignment with each other to tackle climate change, we expect to see even more innovations centred around greener solutions. At CitySprint, we aspire to be market leaders in green logistics and will continue exploring the best methods to invest in our planet by reducing our environmental impact.
