2019 in review – another busy year at CitySprint

As we face the start of a new decade, it’s easy to quickly forget what an immensely fast-paced, innovative and sometimes challenging year 2019 has been.

Some milestones around the world include:

  -  China became the first nation to successfully land on the far side of the moon
  -  Macedonia was renamed as the Republic of North Macedonia
  -  The iconic fashion designer, Karl Lagerfeld, passed away
  -  Doctors made amazing advancements in the treatment of both HIV and malaria
  -  7th in line to the throne, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born
  -  The 16 year-old climate change warrior, Greta Thunberg, sailed the Atlantic to address the UN Summit
  -  And we’ve seen a UK Prime Minister resign, a new one elected via General Election, and we are still in Brexit limbo

It’s also been another busy year for the team at CitySprint. Not only have we launched new technology throughout the business to better serve our customers, we’ve tested market-leading zero-emission vehicles, increased the capacity of our cargo bike fleet in London and signed the Clean Van Commitment.

New services launched included Forward Stock Locations in 16 of our sites across the country and On the dot’s evening delivery service which supported leading retailers with over 12,000 delivered packages over Cyber weekend alone.

We pride ourselves in being a diverse and socially responsible business – some of this year’s charity highlights include £3,000 raised through our Pride campaign, the donation of our 90th van to Crisis, £1,100 raised through our 3rd annual charity football match and 2,135 items donated to foodbanks in our local communities.

None of this great work is possible without the people behind the CitySprint brand – be that the colleagues who take bookings for vital deliveries each and every day, or teams who work tirelessly in the 30+ sites dotted around the UK to support our customers (and 102 of these colleagues have been recognised for their outstanding contribution this year).

As Christmas approaches and the cold weather is upon us, take care of one another and those in your local communities. We’re proud to again be supporting Crisis at Christmas this year, but there are many other small ways that we can band together to help those less fortunate over the festive season.

Finally, we’d like to give thanks to all our customers for their continued support throughout 2019 – we always strive to offer you the best service possible and will continue to innovate and grow in 2020 and beyond.

From the entire team at CitySprint, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
