Jason and Mark get training for the 55-mile cycle challenge!

Jason and Mark braved the heat to train for the CitySprint Charity Bike Ride – happening in less than two months!

With less than two months until the cycle team battle the 55-mile ride from London to Brighton, our riders have been putting in the training hours to ensure they are best prepared for the challenge ahead. Jason Sharman, Director of Operations - National, and Mark Philipson, Regional Manager Midlands (pictured above), rose bright and early on what was reported to be one of the hottest days this year to get on the saddle and train for the fast-approaching charity bike ride. They are two of the thirteen members of the senior leadership team who will collectively take on the challenge.

Jason says, “I would say I am currently not in peak fitness so the thought of cycling 55miles is frightening! However here I am at 7am on a Sunday morning on what is reported to be the hottest day of the year taking training very serious for a very serious cause.”.

The team is taking on this challenge to aid the Trussell Trust, a non-profit that fights poverty. The Trussell Trust advocates for change to prevent the UK from ever again needing food banks while also supporting a national network of food banks to help those trapped in poverty with emergency food and support.

The need for financing and support is greater than ever with over 14 million people living in poverty in the UK, including 4.5 million children. “I think we will all agree it isn’t right that anyone should go hungry, and our cycling group are so committed to supporting and raising as much money as possible.”, Jason adds.
