This week, our work in partnership with BBC Procurement has been recognised at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2016, winning a first-place gong in the Sourcing & Procurement category.
Up before the judges was a project I am particularly proud of; creating a new online Courier Booking Hub that employees at the BBC can use to book all courier and delivery services.
This new platform brings all the BBC’s agreed logistics and courier suppliers (including ourselves) together in one place, and puts control firmly in the hands of users. BBC staff can book the right service for their specific need and maintain clear sight of the costs involved. It’s more efficient, easier to use and helps them reduce costs – a win all round.
I am incredibly proud of the whole team from across CitySprint, who worked incredibly hard on this innovative project.
Efficiency is an often misunderstood word, but any business will tell you it’s vital. The mission of the BBC Procurement team is freeing up resource that can be re-directed to the BBC’s core activity of programme making. And anyone who cheered on this year’s Bake Off finalists or roared with laughter at Ed Balls on Saturday night will agree that more of this is a great thing.
Over the course of this project, we’ve had the chance to explore the whole range of very specialist logistics needs programme teams have – from moving antique motorbikes, custom made pool tables or specially produced Pudsey costumes. It’s an honour to partner with the BBC and support their work
To borrow a phrase from Strictly – we’ll keep on delivering.
