Nottingham emerged victorious in our quarterly sustainability competition and took home the gold thanks to their diligent efforts in sustainability.
In an era of heightened environmental awareness and the urgent need to combat climate change, we know that delivery companies must prioritise sustainability in their operations. By making our service centres and operational processes more environmentally friendly, we have significantly reduced our carbon footprint, mitigated pollution, and contributed to preserving natural resources.
Our quarterly sustainability competition was launched amongst our service centres to promote best sustainable practices and improve our overall recyclability across the business. Since launching in 2022, the competition has rewarded several service centre teams for their different approaches towards building a sustainable future, whether that’s through energy performance, recycling efforts or green initiatives.
We're now thrilled to announce that our Nottingham site has emerged victorious as the second quarterly competition winner of the year. We’re delighted to celebrate a team that has been recognised under our sustainability initiative criterion. Their commitment to driving sustainability has lifted the lid on some fantastic new reporting that will benefit our whole CSR programme!
The Nottingham team has been actively challenging and reporting on their recycling rates to the CSR team as their consistent engagement in their recycling campaign was not fully reflected in the reports from our waste provider. As a result of this discrepancy, an investigation was conducted and revealed previously uncommunicated details about the recycling rates reported by them and the waste weighing system installed on their lorries. This led to our team receiving more transparent information and new statistics about our waste performance.
Most importantly, we have now updated our waste report to a new, more complete version, increasing our recycling accuracy. We are now also working more closely with our waste provider, thanks to Nottingham’s dedication to their recycling campaign. By diligently segregating their waste, analysing their reports, and challenging the data monthly, our Nottingham team has shown true commitment to their recycling strategy.
We hope that by making our operations more sustainable and improving our recycling reporting, we can emerge as leaders in corporate responsibility and innovation when it comes to delivery and logistics.
