Around the World in 80 Days campaign reaches major milestone as fundraising and competition heat up

This summer, colleagues from across the business are taking part in our Around the World in 80 Days Challenge, aiming to collectively cover 25,000 miles through walking, running, cycling and swimming, while raising vital funds for Make-A-Wish UK to help grant life-changing wishes for critically ill children.

Five weeks into the challenge, colleagues across the business have collectively achieved:

• 10,213 miles completed
• 2,058 activities logged
• £4,357 raised

With CitySprint matching donations up to £30,000, every mile and every donation is helping us move closer to our goal of raising £60,000 for critically ill children and their families.

A new team takes the lead

After spending four weeks in second place, Operations – South West have stormed into first position with an incredible 1,748 miles, overtaking long-time leaders Operations – Central.

The individual leaderboard remains just as competitive. Graham Davies continues to set the pace, somehow finding time to add miles before most of us have even had breakfast.

Close behind is Bill Chidley, whose epic cycling routes through France are helping to keep the pressure firmly on. The race for the top spot is far from over.

Incredible efforts across the business

The challenge continues to inspire colleagues to push themselves and support one another.

A huge congratulations goes to Russell Terry, who recently completed the demanding North Downs 50 Ultra Challenge, covering an impressive 50km.

Our Manchester and South West teams also enjoyed fantastic charity walks, proving that every mile is even better when it's shared.

Meanwhile, Oxford Service Centre set the benchmark on the static bikes, completing more than 150 miles in a single day. The challenge is now on for the rest of our service centres to see who can beat them.

Why it matters

Every mile completed and every pound raised helps support the life-changing work of Make-A-Wish UK, which grants wishes for critically ill children across the UK.

While we're delighted with the progress so far, there's still plenty of time to get involved and help us go even further.
