We’re delighted to announce our green fleet is now expanding outside of London!
In support of the ongoing bid to reduce our carbon emission output, we will be introducing our cargo bike to the city of Leeds.
After having the first five of our new-age cargo bikes join our London fleet in August 2017, we have continued to increase our zero-emission fleet with our e-bikes fulfilling over 4,000 jobs a month in Central London.
The decision to trial our green delivery services in Leeds has been made based on customer demand as well as the city’s layout. Upcoming regulation and limited availability of low-emission commercial vehicles also play a pivotal role, with Leeds City Council recently securing government approval to implement a Clean Air Charging Zone as part of their effort to reduce air pollution in the city.
This trial provides a great solution for businesses affected as one cargo bike has a load capacity of up to 100kg and can carry most items a small van can. More importantly, these electrically assisted vehicles save 4 tonnes of GHG emissions a year and can complete jobs, on average, 50% faster than a van at peak times on week days.
With ULEZ less than 3 months away in London and Leeds declaring plans for a Clean Air Zone in 2020, this is an ideal time for us to learn more about the operational challenges we may face in our ongoing push towards zero emissions from yet another leading green city in the UK.
