After much thought and consideration, we are honoured to announce Make-A-Wish foundation as our new charity partner.
Charities that deliver lifechanging results rely on vital support so they can provide help for society’s most needy and vulnerable. Social value is extremely important to us at CitySprint, hence why
supporting local communities makes up one of the four core pillars of our
CSR strategy acting as a foundation to what we do.
Recognising and celebrating the great community work our people do is also high on our agenda and it’s with this in mind, we launched a colleague volunteer programme in 2021 for colleagues to donate a day of their time covered by CitySprint. Our CSR approach is built around giving team members a voice so taking into account the diverse set of charity causes we’ve seen support for, we decided to offer colleagues the opportunity to vote for our charity partner this year. We are pleased to announce that the majority of voters chose Make-A-Wish Foundation as their preferred charity.
Who are Make-A-Wish?
Right now, around 63,000 children in the UK are eligible for a wish because they have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. From the moment they are diagnosed, the simple pleasures of childhood and family life are replaced by worry, disruption, medical appointments, financial worries, and isolation.
Make-A-Wish exists to put those issues to one side by empowering a child with the chance to choose a wish that's unique to them, when so much else has been decided for them because of their health needs. In doing so, a wish creates hope, happiness, and memories for the whole family to cherish.
With the public’s support, they grant a variety of wishes to children seeking happiness. Whether it be decorating a bedroom, visiting Disneyland, becoming a train driver for the day, or even a shopping spree – no wish is a small wish for their worthy recipients.
Looking to the future
We are also continuing our longstanding partnership with
Crisis, the homelessness charity. Now in its 13
th year, our partnership continues to provide logistical support and donations to help Crisis end homelessness in the UK.
In 2023, we aim to continue to support charities close to our colleagues’ hearts, while providing much needed promotion and fundraising to our annual charity partners – Make-A-Wish and Crisis.
