The Generation Study
In 2023, Genomics England issued a national tender for a Same Day Courier provider capable of managing sensitive, scheduled collections across a broad hospital network, spanning from Newcastle to Cornwall. CitySprint was awarded the contract due to our ability to meet and exceed all requirements. Our Solutions Design Team used industry-leading routing software to build a bespoke logistics solution.
CitySprint is proud to support the Generation Study – a pioneering research study led by Genomics England in partnership with NHS
England that is using whole genome sequencing to screen 100,000 newborns and look for more than 200 rare genetic conditions.
Dynamic support and flexibility
We were tasked to manage sensitive, scheduled biological sample collections across a hospital network spanning from Newcastle to Cornwall. The key requirements included a national fleet of trained and accredited couriers, a cost-effective and efficient routing strategy, and a fully auditable chain of custody.
The CitySprint solution implemented a bespoke logistics model using industry-leading routing software to optimise efficiency, reduce costs for twice-weekly collections, and deploy GDP-compliant, pathology trained couriers, while its proprietary Pinpoint system ensured full traceability at every stage of the process.
Looking Ahead
Due to the outstanding service performance and operational flexibility, Genomics England has chosen to renew the contract with CitySprint for an additional two years. As the Generation Study continues to expand its reach and impact, CitySprint remains committed to providing reliable, responsive, and secure logistics in support of better health outcomes for future generations.
