With National Apprenticeship Week coming to an end but many wonderful apprentices still in our midst, we thought we would close out the week by highlighting Ruben’s apprenticeship experience here at CitySprint.
Ruben is our Customer Services Apprentice and he is based at our Heathrow service centre. He is currently studying for a Level 3 Apprenticeship in the Absolutely team. Ruben has been with CitySprint for 17 months and is due to finish his apprenticeship in March of this year. We sat down with him to get a better understanding of his role and what he loves about being an apprentice.
Why did you join CitySprint’s apprenticeship programme?
I joined CitySprint’s apprenticeship programme because when I came in for my interview, I got on well with my manager and it felt like a good environment for me to learn and work in. I saw endless opportunities for me to pick up new skills.
What is the best thing about being an apprentice?
It’s that you pick up so many new skills and learn so much. I have also enjoyed seeing my progress throughout my apprenticeship.
What’s been your favourite memory since joining?
I have had lots of great memories but my favourite was winning the Institute of Couriers’ Apprentice National Courier Award last October.
What do you hope to achieve at work and/or personally in the next five years?
I hope to keep learning and expanding my knowledge. I also want to keep progressing through the company.
Would you recommend applying for an apprenticeship?
Yes, as I think this is a great way to learn and develop whilst working.
Finally, can you tell us a little about you outside of work?
I love going out, watching Arsenal, playing games, driving, and watching UFC and Boxing.
